Going Green….it starts at the top!

The U.S. Government is strongly suggesting that we all conserve and reduce our gasoline useage as much as possible, both to reduce greenhouse emissions and our reliance on foreign oil.  I applaud that effort by each individual, but I think that leadership starts at the top. Now it has!  U.S. House Majority Leader (Hoyer) is putting our money where his mouth is!  He is suggesting a 4 day work week for the US Federal Government.  Considering how many Federal Employees there are in the U.S., that would be a HUGE conservation move and one which will have little consequences.  Let' hope he is able to push ... Comcast gets first fine for restricting access on the Net

They are definitely NOT the only ones doing this.  If you pay for a specific service, ALL terms and conditions should be set out in advance.  Secretly banning access of websites to consumers is far more reaching than just peer to peer networks, but that was what the FCC addressed, and thankfully, fined Comcast for. The Franklin D. Roosevelt Library and Museum linked to Bartleby.com, which offered us the complete texts of the inaugural addresses of all the U.S. presidents. We found FDR's first inaugural address, which contains the full quote in the fifth sentence:   So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself -- nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance. IRS boosts mileage deductible

The agency will boost the optional standard rate, used to compute deductible operating costs for vehicles, to 58.5 cents a mile beginning in July, up from 50.5 cents, the rate used since January. Now, all you have to do is figure out a way to afford to advance it until you get reimbursed or get a credit from your tax return.  I say, cut travel 50% and use the internet and phone more often!  Telecommute!!  Qualify the prospect to the nth degree and do you best to sell over the phone then schedule post-close meetings and maybe a couple networking group ...
